I’ve been a member of Elfwood Galleries for a couple years now and every once in a while I like to see what others are doing. The other day I came across this one artist. She isn’t Scadian, but her gouache work is absolutely superb! I actually screen captured her work to use as a reference for some of my scrolls. If anyone else would like to see her work please check out her link below. http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/a/l/alirka/alirka.html Back to the scribal table Daniela _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com =================================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send email to with a blank Subject: line and unsubscribe scribes in the body of the message. As I am homing in on a design for this Middle Eastern scroll I am still trying to decide weather to find someone to write out the text in Arabic or if I should just use a pseudo Arabic hand.

Without wanting to start a fire storm of opinions what is the general feeling of one versus the other?

I've always felt that real is better, but if you can't do real, do pseudo. For me, it's always more fun to do things as closely as possible to how they would have done it, and if you can do the scroll in the actual Arabic script, you've learned that much more and saved yourself the trouble of making up something non authentic.
