Imagine going into a Barnes & Noble bookshop - a large one - and asking for a book on Illuminated Manuscript, and getting a salesperson who has no idea what it is, has never seen a page of calligraphy from the Middle Ages or Renaissance, and had never heard the term used before. Most B&N's have at least something... this one didn't have much of a selection, even after checking the catalogue for some of the books mentioned on this list. Oh well. I haven't been to a Michaels that "doesn't" carry #90 and #140 hot press Arches. In fact, Michaels is the one store I could count on to carry the hot press when I lived in Canada. (And I haven't had a problem since moving back to the US.) Also, the prices have been quite reasonable as well. Lady Tzitzakion BBM, East Kingdom P.S. I preferArches #140 lb hot press. I do mostly blanks that are given to calligraphers to be done. I can't tell you how many calligraphers come up to me to thank me for using the #140 stuff. :-) Much easier to work on than a lot of other stuff they've had to use. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martha Palotay" > Forget Michaels.
