Just to clarify, it was written: > Queen's Honor of Distinction East, Kingdom Level, Service to > Queen only. (Basically a fancy > thank-you scroll, includes a white rose > tied to the arm by a gold ribbon) Basically correct, although the scroll is optional. The actual symbol used is particular to each Queen, and is some symbol of personal significance to the Monarch who grants it. Indeed, my QHD is a white rose tied with the gold ribbon, which I received from HRM Isabella, but subsequent Queens will no doubt use something entirely different, and more representative of their own personalities/tastes/personas/etc.. As to the others mentioned, these are the ones I could come up with quickly. If the Award is a Kingdom level award of some description, I've just listed the kingdom name. If a Baronial Award, I listed the Barony and Kingdom it is in. If the question is, go to Pennsic or don't go to Pennsic... the answer is always "go to Pennsic." The only difficulty is that it'll be pretty pricey for such a short stay. But still wonderful. I would do it, if it were me. There is a class on whitework illumination scheduled for 2 pm on Friday; there is an ongoing "making a modelbook" class you maybe could drop in on; and it's just a fantastic place to be. - -----Original Message----- From: Floriligeum@aol.com [mailto:Floriligeum@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2001 11:57 PM To: scribes@castle.org Subject: [scribes]: Pennsic? Until this evening I assumed that there was no way I was going to see Pennsic until my kids (preschoolers) were old enough to come & not need CONSTANT supervision. (My husband is not a SCAdian) Anyway today he found out that he was going to have to drive from here (Delaware) to western Ohio on August 8th, he will return on the 10th. Well his route will take him within 2 hours of Pennsic & he is willing to make the detour (assuming my Mom will take the kids for those days). So I am sitting here wondering if this is worth serious consideration, or should I just keep dreaming of the day in a few years when I can really go & get more then a day & a half of time there (10 hour drive each way). Are there any scribal events on the 9th or 10th? Could we set up a time to gather during that short time so we can put faces to the names & maybe show any of our current projects & just share scribal stuff in person? Would anyone else be crazy enough to try this, or am I just nuts for thinking about it?
