Re: [scribes]: Anyone hear from Master Balderick lately? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2001 18:00:29 From: "Elyse Boucher" Subject: [scribes]: Drawing Tools. Greetings from the humble scribe Merouda Pendray! I'm futzing around on the web, trying to do the FY 2001-2002 budget, and to give myself a little break from the drag of work, I popped over to a site that features medieval & renassaince sceintific instruments, to see what I could see. Well, of course there are a number of lovely pictures there to set geek girl's heart afire, but the particularly interesting things were the two sets of drawing tools, and the large .jpg of the particularly yummy set is at http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/epact/picturel.asp?record=257&enumber=86152&level=overview&sort=InstrumentTypeWithoutMarkup&searchtext= This is an English set from 1570. I, of course, am particularly enamoured of the metal pen and the point holder, but the nice thing about the .jpg is that it is sufficiently close up to be able to read the numbers on the ruler and square. :-) To get to the top page of the site, if the URL hasn't been shared by someone in the past, just go to http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/epact/ Back to the budget war now. Your Servant, Merouda "Geek Girl" Pendray. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com =================================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send email to with a blank Subject: line and unsubscribe scribes in the body of the message. I got email from him this morning, in fact, and last week I got two skins of vellum from him in the mail.
