[scribes]: Let me introduce myself Re: [scribes]: Let me introduce myself [scribes]: Qu'ran [scribes]: ME stuff Re: [scribes]: Qu'ran ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 19:58:40 +0100 From: "Brahdelt" Subject: [scribes]: Let me introduce myself My name is Lady Finnarwen of Formendor, I am the Chronicler at the Court of Prince Wszebor I, ruler of Draconia, also known as Dragonland or, in our language Smoczykraj. We are not part of the SCA (I hope it will not remove me from the SCA scribes' mailing list!), although we are situated next to the territory of Drachenwald. Draconia covers part of Poland in the Central Europe, you can see the map on our website www.draconia.it.pl , shortly in English version as well. My group mainly focuses on two historical periods, X-XII century and XV century, and we draw from the Northern European heritage. The tradition of medieval recreation in our country goes back to the 1960's, although a real revival is dated at 1990's, when more and more groups started their existence. Nowadays, several groups (out of many unallocated) are forming the organisation called Treaty of the Borders, we divided Poland into parts and we meet at tournaments and fight to gain pieces of a land, we also cultivate medieval arts, crafts and sciences. People from one of our friend group Bractwo Rycerskie Ziemi Lubuskiej had some contacts with Drachenwald court and we met some SCA guests at the tournament in the town called Kozuchow organised by this group, namely in 1999 these were Baron Helmut zu Juelich (Helmut Riebe) and Lord Falco von Jablonec (Alexander Berg), in 2000 there were some guests from Vielburgen Shire. Being a Court Chronicler, I prepare all the official prince's documents like letters, invitations, awards, personal scrolls, and, first of all, the Chronicle of the People of Draconia. My works can be seen at www.draconia.it.pl\kronikarz.html . My other interests are embroidery, tablet weaving, cooking. I am also the chief editor of the biweekly magazine called "Feudal Gazette", the official organ of Draconia (it has been issued 12 times up till now), where I collect many interesting articles concerning different aspects of Middle Ages, either written by me and other Draconians, or found on the Internet and other sources like press, books, ect. I am the co-webmaster of our official www site, the other person is the Chancellor of Prince Wszebor I, Sir Daeris d'Ostear, personally my boyfriend. In the mundane world my name is Joanna Zelazko, I'm 26 and single. I live in Warsaw and I work for a big international company as a Managing Director Assistant. I have two cats, love different handcrafts,(calligraphy, illumination and cross-stitching the most), I'm also interested in webmastering, role-playing games, science-fiction and fantasy literature and, finally, something totally different, historic and contemporary Japanese and Chinese films and music. That is all for now about me and my re-enactment group, if you want to know more, do not hesitate to ask or visit our web site. I believe that my existance on this mailing list will contribute greatly to my Chronicler achievements. No, you will not be asked to leave this List because you are not SCA... you care about calligraphy and illumination, that is all we are interested in (well, sort of ). Wow, your story is most interesting, and although I couldn't read a word on your web site, it looked to be quite interesting. Your English is VERY good (which is nice, since not that many of us here could speak Polish if our lives depended on it ), however, and I eagerly await the English translation of your group's web site. Your illumination is early period, but nice. What are you using for medium? We are all at varying stages of technical expertise, but would be most interested in what supplies you have access to, as you might also be in what we have access to in the US or other parts of Europe. As well as what kinds of things we are all doing. I noted you have done a couple pieces based on the Manesse Codex, did you know of their web site?? Anyway, again, welcome to the list.
