Due to a lack of space in our new house (and an inability to hlod a brush any more), I am obliged to sell my collection of books on illumination. Most were acquired in the late 1970s and some may be hard to find these days. There are several of the George Braziller trade paperbacks on different styles of manuscript painting too. They are all in good condition. (Well, one or two may have a few paint spots on my favorite plates...) If you are interested in seeing titles and prices, please e-mail me off-list (Loerchen2@aol.com). If I can suggest waiting just a bit before purchasing a lot of supplies, you can try out some different things at my C&I meeting in a week or so. The Elegant Writer markers are great for practice and hold their tip shapes fairly well. Osmiriod makes a cartridge pen that I prefer to the Schaeffers, but mine are out on loan right now - but if she brings them to the meeting, you can try them out there. You'll find that materials and tools are very much a matter of personal preference, so our group tries to share stuff around so people can try it out before buying it! I also have trays of gouache made up so that new scribes don't have to go out and buy a whole bunch of paint right away. And I bought good paper in bulk, so I can sell it for 2.50 a sheet rather than 4.25/sheet at the store. I believe it's Fabriano hot press 140#; in any case, it's either Arches or Fabriano, and the sheets are 22x30" or thereabouts. Apologies for being brief; I'll try to get back later, and write more, but the next two weeks are packed for me. Dorren __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
