Please pardon the use of bandwidth, and understand that I am posting the job offerings because on these lists because I think Wyewoodians and Scribes are generally above average people. The Virus alert is because I have receieved frantic calls for help from 4 different SCA people in the last week about VIruses on their computers... VIRUS ALERT: A new e-mail virus is running around. This one travels by attatchment, as usual. It comes under different subject lines, but has a common attatchment file name: Navidad.exe. Let me take this opportunity to remind our listeners that opening e-mail attatchments is generally a bad idea unless you are absolutely sure that the attatchment is safe. In most situations it is probably better to save the attatchment to disk, ask the sender if they really did send it to you, and then run a virus scanner on the file just to be sure. Or you can do what I do... and just delete all attatchments with .exe, .vbs, .bat, (and a bunch of others) extensions. This is safer (but not safest) and works for me. If someone tries to send me something with these extensions it is usually just as easy for them to drop it in my FTP drop box. Have a nice day. Kenneth Stoner PS: I am accepting applications for a level 2 Software Design Engineer in Test here at Microsoft. If you know C++, VB, MSOLAP, SQL Server, SQL, MDX, Test Methodology, User Interface Design, Database Design (or some combination of these), and are interested in supporting a large test team with custom made tools and applications, and are also interested in working on the bleading edge of technology (we are all working in C# in the .Net platform) then please send me your resume. Pay Range (This is unofficial of course!) is between 60 and 70 K. A degree in CS is not required, but equivelent experience is. This position is permanent in Microsoft's Data Warehouse Design group, which is one of the premier groups in Microsoft's .Net strategy. I need someone reliable. I need someone soon. (< 3 Weeks) PSS: I am also looking for a Lab Manager type person, who knows administration of large server machines running Win2K, SQL Server 2K, Familiar with hardware maintenance and Network Design. Must be comfortable designing and deploying 1/2 M$ network systems, must not be affraid to replace a power supply by hand, should know how to tie own shoes, know what a DMM is, and able to respond promptly to pages. Ability to work with frantic customers is a must. Pay range is about 58-68K. I will be filing this position in the next 3 months. If you are interested in either of these positions, please send me a resume ASAP and I will set up a phone interview. - ------_=_NextPart_001_01C04EA6.71A999A3 Content-Type: text/html Message

I also have a little book, not a facsimile, with pictures from the Hastings Hours, which was made in the southern Netherlands near the end of the 15th century for William Lord Hastings, who was executed by Richard III in 1483. This is nice miniatures and "pressed" flowers on colored borders. And I have a question: I have an old copy of the Grandes Heures, which I bought used, and it has a dreadful smell to it, rather like a combination of mildew and rotten bananas. The book itself isn't damaged (though the dust cover is ragged), but I can't stand the smell and I sneeze whenever I look at it too long. And I want to look at it! Does anyone know a way of removing the smell from the book without damaging it further? Someone suggested putting it in a plastic bag with aquarium charcoal. Is there any other effective method? Thanks very much in advance Caryn, Artemisia =================================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send email to with a blank Subject: line and unsubscribe scribes in the body of the message.
