Re: [scribes]: Beginning library ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 5 Oct 2000 06:32:17 -0400 From: "Sally Burnell" Subject: [scribes]: URGENT scroll help needed! A scribe friend of mine (who I have been trying to convince to get on this list) needs help. She needs a translation for an Anglo-Saxon Purple Fret scroll (a Midrealm award) that begins with the letter "U" or "P", and she needs to get started with this right away, as it needs to be done in time for an event next weekend. If anyone can help her, please e-mail her at myfanwy_r@hotmail.com. Her SCA name is Myfanwy ferch Rhonwen from the Barony of Cleftlands. Thanks! However there can be a downside to the Univeristy libraries as well. I work for the University of Rochester who has fairly large rare book and medieval research departments. From what I can see on the on-line card catalogue they have a TON of books I would love to pour over. However, both departments are only open M-F 9-5. This does not help those of us who have to work in Corportate America. If I ever want to go see any of these books, I will need to take vacation time to do it. Another suggestion is checking out your local art muesum. Many have lending libraries as well.
