The one that Mongolia uses is interesting. Written up/down, and right to left if I remember.. It is possible to find a font, but .. will have to see.. I might have one here someplace.. Some that are quite advanced, and that modern chemical companies are looking into them for eco-friendly, long lasting colors and like.. The Mongols weren't in the habit of giving scrolls for awards; indeed, much of their population was illiterate. You could have a go at designing a paitze, which would be the closest thing in Mongol culture. A paitze was a small tablet carried by all civil and military officials throughout the empire, and even in Yuan China, as evidence of their commission and authority. The paitzes of higher ranks were stamped with such symbols as a (stylised) tiger's head, a lion under the sun and moon, or a falcon for a prince, with two or more bands of text running vertically beneath. I have some pictures of these items, please contact me privately if you would like me to send you some scans. They were usually made of metal or probably jade, so you might be able to do the design and then give it to a metalworker to stamp or etch it onto a metal plate, or paint the design onto a metal plate yourself -thick brass sheeting would probably work well. It will take a bit more effort, but it would probably turn out better than trying to fake up a pseudo-Mongol scroll. I hope this is of some help, best of luck and please let us know how you go with the project!
