Re: [scribes]: Illuminated Alphabet ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2000 13:08:34 -0500 From: "Helen Schultz" Subject: Re: [scribes]: Illuminated Alphabet Aldiana: This is a very good first book for illuminators. It goes into lots of great detail on layering and other aspects of illumination. Just don't copy the colors exactly... they are either done in pencil or using the Victorian reproductions -- so they are not true. All the other aspects are quite nice. I used the white-vine letter and border for a Laurel promise scroll I did for my first Apprentice... rather nice to have such a good example of white-vine to follow. One of my camp-mates at Pennsic is interested in leaning illumination, and I managed to find her a copy of this book at Pennsic this year. I understand it is now out-of-print, so those who still want to get copies will need to check with their book stores (or on-line) for out-of-print books. I got my copy from Small Churl Books at Pennsic this year, maybe she has a couple more copies. She is on-line at: http://users.neca.com/scbooks/ KHvS - ----- Original Message ----- > Greetings! > > I'm happy now :) > > I've been told for a year now to get a copy of the above mentioned book and > it arrived this morning!
