Modling clay works best but it can leave a stain on paper so keep them in a tray of some sort. I do this sort of thing whenever possible at various events. However, I have also been wondering; once I read about another kingdom having an annual Heraldic & Scribal symposia, similar to the Knowne World one, but an annual kingdom event. Does anyone else do this? Yes, we have an annual Kingdom Collegium, but there never seems to be enough time to take all the classes you want, so having one with a fairly narrow focus seems like a good idea. :-) What do you guys think? We have done it both ways, too -- combining heraldry and scribery, or having only one at a time. It has been a long, long time since we had two days with three tracks of scribal classes (beginning, intermediate, and special topics tracks). I recommend them. We also did a proceedings volume for the last one. I am a great believer in proceedings volumes -- you can go back to them later and refresh your memory. I love stuff like that. I also like sharing with other scribes. Does anyone else do this? Caid had one a few years ago, and it was quite successful (IMHO). I spoke with Crescent about this at our last Kingdom CoH meeting, and got the go-ahead to pursue hosting one in Calafia (Caid) in 1999, if we can get Laurel's OK. I suppose I should remind him that he wanted to talk with her about that... :) CT/nomad - ------------ - Lee "nomad" Damon - \ play: nomad@castle.org or castle!nomad \ work: nomad@qualcomm.com \ http://people.qualcomm.com/nomad/ /\ Seneschal, Castle PAUS. / \ "Celebrate Diversity" / \ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 20:30:27 -0700 From: Lee Damon Subject: [scribes]: (fwd) Festival of the Rose - ------- Forwarded Message Received: (from majordomo@localhost) by castle.org (8.8.5/8.6.9) id JAA02179; Tue, 21 Jul 1998 09:26:12 -0700 (PDT) Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 09:26:12 -0700 (PDT) From: owner-scribes@castle.org Message-Id: <199807211626.JAA02179@castle.org> X-Authentication-Warning: castle.org: majordomo set sender to owner-scribes@castle.org using -f To: owner-scribes@castle.org Subject: BOUNCE caid_scribes@castle.org: Admin request of type /^\s*who\s*$/i at line 9 >From nomad Tue Jul 21 09:26:11 1998 Received: from warlock.qualcomm.com (warlock.qualcomm.com [129.46.52.129]) by castle.org (8.8.5/8.6.9) with ESMTP id JAA02175 for ; Tue, 21 Jul 1998 09:26:10 -0700 (PDT) Received: from moria.qualcomm.com (qualcomm.com [192.35.156.11]) by warlock.qualcomm.com (8.8.5/1.4/8.7.2/1.13) with ESMTP id JAA26807 for ; Tue, 21 Jul 1998 09:24:19 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from daemon@localhost) by moria.qualcomm.com id JAA04717 for ; Tue, 21 Jul 1998 09:21:13 -0700 (PDT) Received: from chrivb01.cch.com(198.147.38.100) via SMTP by moria.qualcomm.com, id smtpdAAA0xpBoX; Tue Jul 21 09:20:24 1998 Received: by chrivb01.cch.com id AA02291; Tue, 21 Jul 98 11:13:20 CDT Received: from mailhub2.cch.com(165.181.21.52) by chrivb01 via smap (V1.3mjr) id sma002235; Tue Jul 21 11:12:42 1998 Received: by notes.cch.com(Lotus SMTP MTA v1.1 (385.6 5-6-1997)) id 86256648.0058D989 ; Tue, 21 Jul 1998 11:10:28 -0500 X-Lotus-Fromdomain: COMPUTAX@CCH From: "Carolyn Richardson" To: caid_scribes@castle.org Message-Id: <88256648.00589670.00@notes.cch.com> Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 09:11:05 -0700 Subject: Re: [caid_scribes]: Re: Festival of the Rose CaidanScribesShow! Festival of the Rose had an excellent set-up with the big tables; at an outdoor event, we'd need people to bring tables as well as chairs. As a matter of fact, I have a lightweight folding table that we could use, it's pretty ugly but tablecloths hide a multitude of sins (as well as folding aluminum legs 8-) ) We might also do well to have those of us who have drawing boards bring them; that way some of us could work on a board in our laps and would only need to be by a corner of the table for the palette and water pot.<< Angel's Anniversary would be more convenient for me - Portero isn't going to happen as Albra is bribing me with sushi to come to her place over Labor Day to help her install bathroom tile. I also have a lightweight aluminum table we could use for holding stuff - I'm not sure it would take the weight of a bunch of people leaning on it. August is pretty booked so I may not be able to make any water sports class, but don't delay it just because of me. I've done pigment levigation with Eowyn before.
