Actually, several of us have been conversing with Raphael about the CD ROM. (see email from 9-14.) I am glad that my plea to the list for a CD ROM has made some progress with him. He is a good soul and is quite excited at the possibility of keeping the book and selling facsimiles and CD ROMS of it. Please, the more of you that email him the better. Raphael Sincerely, F. Hi Saradwen, I would like to know what kind of case you made to him regarding the great benefit he would do to the scribal community by placing that book on CD. We who are not scholars in the academic world are seldom able to see an ENTIRE manuscript complete. Even scholars usually only get to see them at a collection. Sure, many of us have facsimile books on famous pieces, but those seldom include many of the mundane text pages. It would allow people to not only acquire a sense of the distribution and arrangement of illustration amongst the text, but would also make it possible for ambitious scribes to attempt to re-create such works with an entire model to reference. This would be an exceptional asset to the hobbyist. If Rapheal isn't interested in the expenditure required to finance such a publication, maybe the scribes might be willing to put together and arrange the financial support. This would be WAY more logical (and cheaper!) ten raising $20 k. For example, by pre selling the CD it is possible to raise the funds for the publication. Who knows, maybe he would be willing to publish other works in his collection under similar terms. If you would like to put him in contact with me I would be very willing to discuss such a thing with him.
