Well here is the latest news from the Scribes.org web site. I brought the Freya URL down this morning due to objections by my boss to the personal content. That is OK, as it was expected to happen sooner or later. As I mentioned last week, I have recently recieved a cable modem and have just finished setting up my web server on it. The Server is the latest release of MS Personal Web Server for BackOffice98. It has a whole bunch of REALLY neat features. And it was free. Unfortunately, it does NOT support FTP access. I will try to set up a seperate server for this in the near future. The Server is up and running with a deafult page on it. The content from the FREYA site HAS been saved and is currently residing on a Jazz Drive... at work. My truck broke down this morning just as I was leaving for work and I had to get a ride... and forgot to bring home the Jazz drive with all the content. Otherwise it would all be back up and running. Here is the status of our URL. We dont have one. The Server address is http://24.0.173.254/ And you can visit it right now, as we speak. But typing in www.Scribes.Org will do nothing. As I do not have access to a credit card, I have not been able to register the name. It costs $50. If ANYONE has some pull with someone with a DNS server maybe they could slip us in the back door? If push come to shove, I am willing to beg for help in getting this registered or ask for donations. Everyone should try loading the page at the above address and report back on any *BUGS* they might find. I dont want to hear about spelling errors, etc. yet. I just need to know that everyone can get to the page and that the server statistics collection, etc. is working. Go ahead and try the Message Board and Drop Box feature whilst you are there as well, OK? NEXT: I intend for this to be clearing house. If you want to host your page here, contact me. I have the server set up for remote access and publishing for authorized users. In fact, Im using the same technology that geoCities is. Better in fact, because you can run CGI on this server as well as DAO,ODBC and RAS. I will be putting together a policy on how this is going to work over the next few days. Basically, right now my mind is going 1000 miles/minute and I need to think this part through a little better before I hand out access. Look for this to come by the end of June at the latest. Well, have a good weekend. :-) Cystennin sends, ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jun 1998 08:54:38 EDT From: Ariannawyn@aol.com Subject: Fwd: [scribes]: Re: doing your own scroll, Eastern Rite This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - --part0_897137678_boundary Content-ID: <0_897137678@inet_out.mail.aol.com.1> Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII This was sent to me, but I think it was intended for the full list. At request of the Crown I was asked as a scribe of our kingdom to do these scrolls, as it turned out I received these actual pieces.... on purpose. One being a Meridian Majesty(service to Queen), one Velvet Owl(A&S) and a Queen's Champion. Sometimes it just happens. ::chuckles...as it happens I picked out my GOA scroll, however it was already done...and no I did not scribe my own name in it...that would have been toooo much. On one other occasion as a scribe I was asked to pick out a GOA scroll to be filled in by another, not knowing it was to be presented to me. Funny how things happen sometimes.
