A while back, someone requested phrases containing all 26 letters, for practice purposes. In case, anyone is still interested, here are a few from _Calligraphy Workstation_ (quite a nifty book, by the way. author: Manda Hanson; publisher: Price Stern Sloan, in Los Angeles, 1992. isbn 0-8431-3664-2. comes with a Platignum pen, several nibs, and ink). "Seven wildly panting fruit flies gazed anxiously at the juicy bouncing kumquat." "Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs." "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." "The five boxing wizards jumped quickly." "Dave quickly spotted the five women dozing in the jury box." In service to Crown and Coronet, Lady Felicity Blindshooter of Wolfsgate, in the slightly soggy, not yet incipient Canton of Mycghalh (Tamatha-Lynn Campbell, out in the bush in Nova Scotia) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 May 1998 06:56:51 -0700 (PDT) From: Elizabeth Maes Subject: Re: [scribes]: ? on work surface angles Adjustable surface is a MUST. Every illuminated picture of a scribe I recall having seen has them sitting at an inclined work surface. This is invaluable for doing calligraphy. I am less sure about illumination, as I do much less of it. It will allow for a more ergonomic function when you're doing your letters. If you get one that is adjustable to multiple angles, you can find what suits the specific project you are working on. I find that, generally, a 30 degree angle is usually fine. Occasionally I want more or less. Pending the purchase of your desk, I suggest inclining your current work surface. You'll get a fell for what you're going to buy and it might provide more insight on the specific of your needs.
