I need a translation for a motto in Latin for a knighting scroll: "they came like the tide" "they" refers to the knight's circle. Thanks! I was showing my apprentice how to manipulate a brush better and I wanted to show her how to draw really little circles. So there we were with I think a "0" sized winsor & Newton series 233, when her husband, Lord Pharamond, decided to make a few circles of his own. So he makes this tiny speck of a circle. Not to be outdone, I exclaimed "ah ha! A challenge!" So with brush in hand, I made the smallest circle I have ever made. To quallify it had to be round, unbroken, and hollow. I was quite pleased with what I made because we had to actually get close to the paper to see that it even existed! It took a few minutes of playing with the brush and paint until the viscosity and brush shape all worked together. But Pharamond was too sly. With that same brush, and that same paint, he sat down again. It took him some few minutes, but when he finished he had a circle which I defy anyone to beat! We had to get a camera lens just to magnify it enough to confirm that it was indeed hollow. So how small were they? We tried to measure them. Unfortunately, the circle I made was smaller in diameter than the ink line on the metal art ruler we had. I got smart and pulled out a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil lead and compared it to that. My circle was a small percent larger than half of that diameter. I believe about 0.3 mm! Pharamond's circle which beat it could just barely fit inside the hollow of mine, about 0.2 mm. S.O.B.!
