I really really like this list! I have gotten a *ton* of useful = information and even made a couple of new friends. I think every one on = this list does an _EXCELLENT_ job of keeping the signal to noise ratio = very very low (there is just *no* garbage. please don't start now!). = (yeah, except for this post, right?) I don't mind opening the list up to = mundane people as an experiment. I think that it should say in great big = caps in the welcome to the scribes list letter that for geneneral = questions about the SCA, take it to private mail or refer them to = www.sca.org. Other mailing lists have the mailer add a sig file to the = bottom of every message. For example, SCA-East mailer adds,'To = unsubscribe from this list send a message to majordomo@ yadda, = yadda,yadda...' Is there a way to do that for this list that would say = something to the effect of,'To unsubscribe do this, for general info on = the SCA please visit www.sca.org'? The list is going VERY well. I have recieved numerous reports from both new and old that this is a usefull and informative list. I am grateful that most of you are following the list rules and that I havent had to banish a single person. In fact, I have only had to *talk* to a couple of you in the last 6 months. WOW. QUESTIONS: I am getting requests for mundane membership on the list. instead of arbitrarily opening up membership I would like to hear from the populace on what YOU think about this. PRO's: More access to information/knowledge Visibility to the outside world CON's: More noise. A lot of general SCA questions. The Web site had 19 hits last month. I thought a lot more of you were using it than that. Is the Web site usefull to you? Have you ever used the FAQ? How many of you knew that the FAQ was there when you signed up on the list? SHould I keep on maintaining this resource? Please e-mail all reply directly to me at kstoner@elgar.com regards, Cystennin Ap Gereint your list maintainer. There are very few at this point, perhaps some half dozen. Scribal instructors seem to be a bit inactive this year. The website, obviously, goes out-of-date as soon as it is posted since I continue to receive additional classes for two more weeks. I hope to have the final schedule (more or less) by mid-June available on the web. Alys Katharine - ------ So, I wanted to let everyone know about this.
