I don't know how many of you are "up" on the latest photo & photoscanner technology, but I discovered that the camera store in the mall near my office has one of those Kodak photo scanner setups that can scan an existing photograph and blow it up into larger sizes for you. It ain't cheap - $10 per page, but 1 page can have 3 4x6s, 2 5x8s or 1 8x10. Since I keep a photo album of the scrolls I've done but either have the negatives spread all over or don't have a negative (since some of the pictures I've got are copies from other people where I forgot to take photos myself), this is a really great way of getting enlarged photos of your work. I recently had a regular 3x5 photo enlarged to a 5x7 and there doesn't appear to be any loss in picture quality. The new enlarged picture is also printed on photo paper so it's *not* like a color photocopy, but a regular photograph. At this point I'm relying on photos because supplies to create the scrolls are expensive enough that I just can't afford anything more...I considered colour copies, but photos keep better in the long run. If you want to see it, check the URL below and hit the link to the scribe page. When you get there it is the Furniture Maker. It is 5.5 inches wide. Also, if you missed it, I have recently added some photos of scribe tools from the British Museum and the Museum of London. Includes some wax tablets, several styluses, a calligraphy stand, some metal quills, and some pen cases. Ranthulfr Randy Asplund-Faith 2101 S. I don't know how much it costs, though. Tetchubah ------------------------------ End of scribes digest V1 #75 ****************************
