For those of you who may be interested, on Thursday July 24 at 7:00PM, there
will be a lecture on "A Taste for Flanders: Manuscript Illumination and the
English Elite" by Janet Backhouse. Ms. Backhouse is an imminent author on
manuscripts and former Curator of manuscripts at the British Library. The
manuscript room with the new exhibit will also be open until 9:00 that evening
for the lecture. Which means you can go early and stay until the lecture (the
museum normally closes at 6:00 that night). Parking reservations aren't
required after 4:00, but you must make a reservation to attend the lecture.

Reservations can be made by going to the Getty website at www.getty.edu and
clicking on the visitor information (or do a search on Backhouse which is what I
did). Or by calling the reservations line at 310-440-7300. I've posted this to
both the Caid scribes list and the general list in case anyone from out of town
is interested.
