> I have piccys of all of them - where would you like them sent?

Greetings from Keterlin:

Would you, could you, pretty please send pictures to both Bronwyn and myself? I love adding things to the archive.

And now a word from our sponsor:

Once upon a time, people (in most kingdoms) took pictures of their finished work and sent them to the scribal officer. Can you imagine, that in fact, they most often made slides, because back in the day, when I was young, (the Earth was still cooling and rocks were soft) that was the accepted format for portfolios? When I first discovered the joy of the scribal arts, I was at a kingdom (a different kingdom) event and they had three massive tomes that where pictures of scrolls set out for display. I looked through them all and found great inspiration. When I was young, (and dinosaurs roamed the earth) as a scribe I would always include a 5x7 photo with the scroll for the recipient and one for the archives. Alternatively, in many kingdoms the scribal officers would take pictures as scrolls came in. When I jointed the modern age and became computer literate, I discovered a gold mine of SCA history and more inspiration in the online archives of other kingdoms.

It's sad to say, that I have been the library deputy for several years and in that time, no one sends me anything for the archives. It's incredibly ironic as "taking pictures" is so vastly different and easy these days. Digital cameras, built in to phones, scanners.., no need wait to finish the roll, or pay someone to develop the film, no finding out after the film is developed that you had the wrong light setting, instant access and electronic transfer...

M'Lords & Ladies, this is our Art History as a group and there is a huge chunk missing. As a mama cat, I would encourage you all to record your work. First and foremost for yourselves as a means to see where you have been and what you can achieve as artists, and for the sake of those that follow. There is a wealth of education, art and social history in the combined works of each and every one of us. It is of immeasurable value to us as a group and to those who will find inspiration and choose to walk the path of discovery and beauty that is the scribal arts, with or after us.

Enough said? Well mostly. This reminder:

Please send me your pictures, along with whatever format you prefer for release, either in the detailed format which I will post as soon as I track it down, or a simple note saying you grant the Kingdom of AnTir and the SCA the rights for use for educational and archival purposes.

If you have pictures and no means to scan them, you may send them to me via snail mail, and I will use my super duper expensive professional quality scanner and my uber sexy new printer to add them to the archive and send them back to you without delay. Send me an e-mail heads up so I can watch for them.
