I am also going to post the name of the alternate paper we use as well.
It's working out nicely so far.

I was going to mention though that I find the hot-press so much nicer to
work with than the cold-press - much smoother : )

Take care

I'm wondering if what Bronwen had at Sept Crown (the Astroparche sample
pak)
was coverweight. It said 65 lb but it sure seemed very thin and light
to
me. And once a wax seal is placed on it, I just don't see how it can
hold
it up, especially if the seal is at the top. I definitely am not the
expert
on this by any means. I'm just wanting something for our Baronial use
that
acts like watercolor paper. The stuff we have ripples and buckles way
more
than I'd like to see happen and it's coverweight also.

I'm curious to see what everyone finds out. I'm still going to try my
watercolor paper (cold press 90 lb) experiment since I already ordered a
small quantity. If that doesn't work, I'll try hot press and if that
doesn't work, I'll explore Astroparche. Cost is definitely a factor for
us
so I want to find the most reasonably priced paper that will do the best
job.

Thanks for your email. It sounds like Astroparche has worked well for
Avacal and I'm sure Bronwen appreciates the feedback about all these
paper
qualities so she can decide what to get for Kingdom charters.

Hi all!

Just my two cents. Avacal has been using Astroparche - cover weight for
years and it copies beautifully - best though the manual feed tray mind
you
- but takes the copying nicely. It is lovely for painting on as well
even
for those that favour a more watercolour-y approach. We are also using a
new
type... I will have to check with Findabhair (Avacal's Principality
Scribe)
to see what it is - it's a touch lighter weight than the Astroparche but
still very nice to work on.

Both papers we use do allow some scraping or touchups but not anything
aggressive but frankly any reasonably priced tinted paper - versus white
- is going to be the same way. The top surface always has a slightly
different tone when compared to the paper just under the surface. It is
the
problem with using a parchmenty coloured paper versus white stock
frankly.

BTW We get it cut down to 11 x 14 and use the sheet off cuts for
practice
sheets for beginning scribes.
