[Antir_scribes] Charter Paper

I was researching paper too for our Baronial charters and wanted to use
watercolor paper. It can't be more than 100 lb or won't go through the copy
machine so I'm doing an experiment. I ordered 30 sheets of Montaval Student
Watercolor Paper, 90 lb, cold press, size 22 x 30. I'm paying 75c a sheet
and then will cut it in half. For larger amounts, there's significant cost
savings. It's through Dick Blick. It's acid free and all that stuff but
the neat thing is it's actual watercolor paper, can be ordered in bulk and
is much less expensive than Arches. Arches is wonderful but it's expensive.
If the Kingdom doesn't mind the expense, I would imagine most scribes would
definitely prefer Arches. I think Astroparche is way too lightweight and
for Kingdom awards, I do think that they should be on something more
substantial than coverstock.
But this is just my two cents worth... I'm not sure when you need to place
your order but I should have the stuff I ordered in a week or so and I can
let you know what it's like.

Help!! - its Bronwen:-)
I'm having trouble with Charter Paper,
The stuff that we are using right now was purchased in August 08 (and it
will soon be gone) it is Skytone Parchment Cover 11 x 17 Natural - Custom
Cut - 65 lb I've been told that the paper it is too light weight for
charters, that it does not scrape well and that we have no proof it is acid
free
It has been suggested that we look at Astroparche
it is guaranteed acid free - and I am told it can be scraped but, the
samples that I got from Wausau paper show that they only make it in 65 lb
cover (and lighter weight) and in showing the samples around - it is again
said to be too light weight for charters
I'm not sure that anything over 65lb can go through a copy machine
does anyone have any other suggestions for a good paper that we can look at
for charters
I'm going to try and shop - but am fearful of not being able to meet all the
criteria
Affordable Price
Correct Weight (but still able to go through a copy machine) Acid free
Correct color (similar to real parchment) Correct look (a bit of visual
texture) Able to be scraped (to get off blotches of dropped paint)
Also, if we can't meet "all" the criteria - which criteria do we meet while
leaving which criteria behind?
