Greetings again from Bronwen

I just received a note from Black Lion

She says

Something to consider is that when a scroll is done in another language, the
name of the order should *not* be translated. Order Names - translated to
other languages are registerable in the SCA, and are *not* registered to
us...

The SCA does not consider it a conflict if you register the exact same award
in another language as long as they don't *sound* alike, so in essence when
TRM sign a scroll with the Order Name translated into another language, it
could be viewed as creating a new Order, just as valid as the one they meant
to create the recipient into.

Additionally
"Lionis Nigri heraldae" (latin for Black Lion Herald) does not belong to us
nor would any other language translation - but Lionis Nigri is registerable
to any other Kingdom, Principality or Barony

so we can't in good faith use a translation for "Black Lion" in the
confirmation statement on achievement scrolls.

now to explain this in a note for the website so it is not forgotten :-S
:-) :-S hmmmmmm....

Bronwen
