[Antir_scribes] Shield shapes on charters

As both a scribe and a herald I really like the idea of putting the badge on the shield. This would work for almost anything except an AoA I would think.

Even if it already has the badge somewhere else, putting it on the shield sounds good to me. If you can work it so that is the primary depiction - so much the better!

If it is an Award of Arms then the vair, potent or ermine option would probably be best. We scribes have a nasty habit of filling in blanks with pretty stuff!

Now my question: Would it be acceptable to use the An Tir populace badge in an instance like this? Kingdom award, Kingdom resident - makes sense to me.

A fan of more heraldry in charter design!

I would not expect a single-tinctured shield to be an issue, since the
SCA doesn't register single tinctures, so a note to the scribe not to
decorate the shield should be sufficient. If you're doing a charter for
an order with a registered badge, you could just put the badge on the
  shield.

If you're in the mood for a bit of rules-lawyering, there's another way
to obstruct scribal initiative: decorate the shield with outlines for
  vair or potent.

This still makes a "single tincture" shield by SCA rules (ermine would
work too, were it not reserved for Brittany).
