Greetings from Tamlyn,
While looking for other information I came across these Raman microscopy
studies for manuscript pigments:

Among other things the Lindisfarne Gospels only used indigo for it's blues,
indigo and orpiment (vergaut) made its greens (verdigris probably was not
used). Lazurite (lapis lazuli/ultramarine) came into use in the British
Isles around 920 A.D., Vermillion (chemical) around the 12th century, and
Azurite around 1300 (Alphonso Psalter).
