The different types of servers are
database servers (prdb, vldb, budb)
file servers
authentication servers (kaserver, MIT/Heimdal KDC)
For large installations, these machines are frequently all seperate. However, there's no reason these processes can't coexist on one piece of hardware, and they frequently do for small setups.
