Locally stored cache of files that have been recently accessed from the remote fileservers. It is used for performance boost.
in-RAM cache (-memcache option to afsd) is supported for diskless clients or for users who desire faster cache access than is possible with an on-disk cache, but has been known to be flaky in the past.
